Instructions
For the Topping
Prepare the Topping Preheat the oven to degrees F or degrees C In a saucepan over medium heat melt the butter Add the brown sugar heavy cream and salt Cook stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth and combined about two to three minutes Pour the mixture into the bottom of a nine inch round cake pan Arrange the pecan halves evenly over the mixture
For the Cake
Mix Dry Ingredients In a medium bowl whisk together the flour baking powder and salt Set aside
Cream Butter and Sugar In a large bowl beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy
Add Eggs and Vanilla Add the eggs one at a time beating well after each addition Stir in the vanilla extract
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternating with the milk Begin and end with the flour mixture mixing until just combined
Assemble Pour the cake batter over the pecan topping in the prepared pan spreading it evenly
Bake Bake for thirty five to forty minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
